The plain-English rules for Maker's Credit. By joining, you agree to them.
Last updated: 26 October 2026
1.1 Maker's Credit lets you pay a fixed amount each month and build up prepaid credit to spend with me, Dave Collingwood, on cymbal-making sessions and training.
1.2 It's not a loan, and you're not borrowing anything. It isn't a bank or savings account, it earns no interest, and it isn't an investment.
2.1 You choose to pay £25, £50 or £100 a month by card through Stripe. Payments are taken automatically on the same date each month until you stop.
2.2 Each time a payment reaches me, I add bonus credit worth 20% of that payment only: £5, £10 or £20. The bonus is never worked out on your balance.
2.3 One plan per person. To pay more, switch to a bigger plan. If you sign up twice, I'll refund the second plan.
3.1 You can spend your credit on Make Your Own Cymbal sessions and session upgrades, and on my cymbal-making training (in my workshop, at yours, or online), including materials and travel for that training. It can't be spent on cymbals or commissions.
3.2 To use your credit, email me to book. You can use it whenever it covers what you want, or book earlier and pay the difference.
3.3 Credit is in pounds. It buys at the price on the day you book.
3.4 Bookings depend on my availability, and my normal booking terms apply.
3.5 You can ask me for your balance at any time, and I'll email you a balance update every three months.
4.1 Your credit doesn't expire.
4.2 If I close Maker's Credit, I'll email you at least 30 days before payments stop, and your credit stays good to use. If I can no longer provide sessions or training at all, I'll refund what you paid in, minus credit used or given away.
5.1 Your plan and credit belong to you, the person paying.
5.2 At any time you can ask me to give some or all of your credit (bonus included) to someone else. I'll move it into their name, and they can use it just like their own credit, together with any credit they already have.
5.3 Once credit has been given, it belongs to the person who received it. It can't be moved back or refunded to you or to them.
6.1 You can switch plan or stop your payments at any time using this link (it's also in every receipt), or by emailing me. A new plan starts from your next monthly payment. To pause, email me. If you stop or pause, you keep all your credit.
6.2 You can ask for a refund at any time. I'll refund what you've paid in, minus any credit you've used or given away. Bonus credit isn't refunded, and I don't charge a fee. If you've used or given away as much as you paid in, or more, there's nothing left to refund.
6.3 This includes your legal right to cancel within 14 days of signing up. Please ask in writing (email is fine). I'll refund the card you paid with within 14 days. Your plan then ends, and any remaining credit is cancelled.
7.1 If a payment fails, Stripe will try again over the next few weeks. If it still fails, your plan stops and you keep the credit you've built up. You can join again whenever you like.
8.1 I keep Maker's Credit payments in a separate bank account from my business takings until you use your credit, so I can always refund what's owed.
9.1 I keep your name, email, phone number and payment records to run Maker's Credit and to contact you about it. Card details are handled by Stripe, and I never see them. I won't share your details or use them for anything else without asking.
10.1 I may change these terms for new members. If a change affects existing members, I'll email you at least 30 days before. Credit you already have keeps its value.
11.1 These terms don't affect your legal rights as a consumer.
11.2 These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
11.3 Maker's Credit is run by Dave Collingwood, trading as Collingwood Cymbals and Make Your Own Cymbal. Contact: dave@collingwoodcymbals.com, Unit 16, Douglas Road Industrial Park, Bristol BS15 8PD.
